My work is definitely marked by a minimalist aspect. It’s more about expressesing my feelings than something I really choose. I’m always trying to discover a line, a curve, an unusual shape. It may come from the fact that I teach mathematics and have an interest in geometry. I’m not sure, really. I’m usually more interested in uncluttered shapes in a deserted environment.
I’m particularly attracted to landscapes with an ambiguous atmosphere, where calm may foretell a storm, where one feels both the stillness and an uneasy ambience. I think b&w suits this kind of atmosphere and reinforces the enigmatic side of two different worlds, one reassuring and the other threatening. In my b&w shots, I look for strengthened contrasts that give more force and impact to photography.
